Illumina BeadXpress System
The Illumina BeadXpress System is ideally suited for analyzing high sample numbers in low- to mid-plex assays (range from a few analytes up to 384) at very low cost per analyte. The key element of the BeadXpress System are digital holographic elements which are embedded into microcylinders. These holographic elements are decoded by laser light simultaneously with the read out of the bound analyte in a liquid phase assay.
Assays currently available on the BeadXpress System are Illumina´s Golden Gate assay (for 96plex or 384plex designs) and Illumina´s allele-specific primer extension (ASPE) assay (1plex up to 72plex) which is based on Universal Beads. The main applications of the BeadXpress System are:
- Custom SNP Genotyping
- Custom Expression Profiling from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue
- The determination of DNA methylation sites
